Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 3 September, 2015: Marka PJSC (DFM: MARKA), the first public joint stock retail operator focused on the UAE’s growing retail and hospitality sectors, has opened the first Reem Al Bawadi outlet in Sharjah. Located in the premium extension of Sahara Centre, the location is the first Reem Al Bawadi outlet to be customized for a mall environment. The newest addition to the award-winning restaurant chain features a 5,500 sq. ft. dining area and a 500 sq. ft. outdoor terrace offering the signature ambiance and service of the well loved brand.
Nick Peel, Chief Executive Officer of Marka Holding, the parent company of Reem Al Bawadi, said, “Reem Al Bawadi has grown from a single outlet 13 years ago to become one of the largest, best known and most highly regarded local food and beverage brands. This new outlet is a natural addition to the Sharjah dining scene and represents Marka’s commitment to extend this beloved brand across the UAE.”
Established in 2001 by Mr. Ayman Al Jaber, Reem Al Bawadi quickly established a strong reputation and a loyal clientele by offering an expansive menu of authentic and affordable Middle Eastern cuisine served in a warm and homely ambience. Mr. Jaber’s commitment to providing the very best dining experience led the brand to receive numerous plaudits and acclaim, including the title ‘Best Middle Eastern Restaurant’ at both the prestigious BBC Good Food ME Awards 2014 and the influential What’s On Awards 2014.
Mr. Saif Ensor, Chief Operating Officer of Reem al Bawadi said: “Reem al Bawadi is renowned for its authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and warm hospitality. Many of our guests consider it a ‘home away from home’ due to the genuine flavours of the food and the unique ambiance. As a local, UAE brand, we are delighted to be opening our doors in Sharjah for the first time and look forward to welcoming guests at the Sahara Centre.”
The popular restaurant brand was acquired by Marka in May of this year, and the company revealed a robust expansion that will see up to five new franchised Reem Al Bawadi outlets opening in the wider Middle East and North Africa region. The company says that its expansion of Reem Al Bawadi represents its long-term growth strategy, which entails building a portfolio of leading brands under the wing of its dedicated food and beverage division, Marka Hospitality.
The opening of the new establishment in Sharjah extends the franchise to nine outlets across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, with the first Reem Al Bawadi restaurants in Al Ain and Ras al Khaimah also set to open before the end of 2015.
