Dubai, United Arab Emirates -22ndFebruary 2016: Marka PJSC (DFM: MARKA), the first public joint stock operation focused on the fast growing retail and hospitality sector in the UAE, has confirmed the expansion of the award-winning Reem al Bawadi restaurant chain by launching the first outlet at Al Naeem Mall. The new restaurant is the brand’s 11th outlet across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and part of Marka’s expansion strategy in a bid to extend its hospitality footprint in the region.
“Marka is pleased to bring the authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and superb hospitality of Reem Al Bawadi to Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Naeem Mall,” said Nick Peel, CEO of Marka. “Marka continues its focused expansion efforts, taking the total footprint to 11 Reem Al Bawadi outlets. Based on overwhelming demand for the award-winning brand, we have identified the need to bring the brand to RAK.
Since Marka’s acquisition of Reem Al Bawadi, it has since established itself as a leading home-grown hospitality brand, with its award-winning Middle Eastern cuisine having garnered huge popularity among the region’s diners. Reem al Bawadi’s popularity has enabled it to grow from a single outlet in 2001 to become one of the largest, best known and most highly-regarded local food and beverage brands in the UAE. Its cuisine has earned it the coveted What’s On Dubai Awards for two consecutive years (2014 & 2015) in the ‘Affordable Dining’ category. In addition, Reem al Bawadi was the recipient of an award for ‘Best Middle Eastern Restaurant’ at the prestigious BBC Good Food ME Awards 2014.
Hesham Almekkawi, Group Managing Director of Hospitality, said, “Marka’s robust expansion plan for Reem Al Bawadi in the UAE, GCC and international markets is a natural fit for Marka Hospitality’s strategy of taking the very best local offerings and extending their footprint in the UAE and further afield.” The new outlet at Al Naeem Mall will have an internal floor plan of 8,900 sq. ft. and an outside dining area of around 1,500 sq. ft.
In line with its ambitious expansion strategy, Reem Al Bawadi is also participating in the Gulf Food event, where they will offer unique opportunities for interested franchisees to expand the brand around the world. “Reem Al Bawadi is expanding at just the right time in the market,” added Hesham. There’s a demand for concepts like Reem Al Bawadi among diners in this region. This is largely thanks to the unique concept and service standards, which are already well accepted and appreciated by all nationalities.”
